In 2010 my neighbor had a colony of bees take up residence within the eave of home, and from that moment I became curious about the species and their habitat. I spent several years learning about bees, mostly from watching documentaries and reading books. It is incredible how much information is out there. The more learned, the more fascinated I became.

Soon after I learned a friend of mine was secretly a bee keeper and he invited me to join him as he inspected his hives. For the first time I got to try on a bee suit and mingle with the bees! Two days later I met up with my friend at a trailer house where he was going to be removing a bee hive that had been left undisturbed for 4 years. This was only my second time ever wearing a bee suit and my friend says “Dan, why don’t you get under there and remove that bee hive.” So that’s just what I did. With my friend’s occasional words of advice and encouragement, I removed perfect structure honey combs, covered with thousands of bees. I was amazed by the entire experience and I’ve been hooked ever since, and continue to advance my knowledge. I can honestly say I enjoy what I do and look forward to meeting and value new customers and caring for their needs all the while educating people on the importance of bees and their fight to survive against pesticides, neonicotinoids, pests, diseases, and loss of habitat.
