BEES CREATING AN UNWANTED BUZZ

LET BEE MAN DAN

CATCH THAT BUZZ

In 2010, I began my journey into bee removal. As I delved deeper, I discovered that bees often nest in challenging places—walls, floors, chimneys—posing unique issues for homeowners. This realization led me to a simple mission: safely relocate bees without harming their colonies, a service crucial for both people and pollinators.

Unlike other pests, bees play an essential role in our ecosystem. They’re usually non-aggressive, only stinging as a last resort to defend their hive. However, if bees take up residence in your home or yard, it’s best to leave the hive undisturbed and call me, Bee Man Dan, for professional relocation. I handle bees with respect and care, ensuring your property stays safe while preserving the bees’ vital role in nature.

For years, I’ve been helping Houston-area homeowners protect their property from unwanted bee invasions. While many pest control companies shy away from dealing with stinging insects, I’m here to help, no matter the challenge. I’ve faced thousands of bees in confined spaces and have had my fair share of close calls. Still, I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything. Relocating these precious pollinators is something I’m passionate about and dedicated to.

Types of Bees and Their Habits

Throughout this journey, I’ve learned a great deal about bees and their diverse species. Bees are gentle yet determined workers, their colonies structured and harmonious. Honeybees are social, living in large colonies that produce honey and wax. They’re known for their signature hexagonal hives, often found in tree hollows or attics. Bumblebees, meanwhile, prefer underground nests and are easily recognized by their fuzzy, black-and-yellow bodies.

Solitary bees, such as carpenter bees and mason bees, live alone. Carpenter bees make their homes in wood, while mason bees nest in hollow stems or small holes. These solitary bees rarely sting, focusing on their independent routines of pollination and reproduction. Bumblebees, on the other hand, are known for their peaceful nature. They live in smaller colonies and are far less aggressive, making them essential yet gentle pollinators.

What to Do If Chased by a Bee

Encountering bees doesn’t have to be a cause for alarm. If a bee gets too close for comfort, stay calm and avoid swatting at it. Quick movements can provoke bees, causing them to perceive you as a threat. Instead, gently and slowly move away from the bee or hive. If you find yourself in a rare situation where bees are pursuing you, your best bet is to calmly head indoors or into a car, as bees won’t pursue you into enclosed spaces.

Preventing Bee Attractants Around Your Home

Taking a few simple steps can help deter bees from making your property their home. Bees are drawn to sweet smells and bright colors, so try to avoid leaving sugary foods and drinks in open spaces. Seal your trash cans, especially outdoors, to prevent attracting bees searching for sweet scraps. Additionally, if you have a garden, consider planting bee-friendly plants like lavender, rosemary, and sunflowers. These can encourage bees to stick to the garden and steer clear of the house.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process for scheduling an appointment?

Easy! Call us or book online using our calendar link. We will get you scheduled within minutes.

How long does a bee removal typically take?

We should be in and out within 4 to 6 hours. Everything depends on the full scope of the work.

How quickly can you get out to my property?

With easy access to our calendar you can easily view our availability, and schedule online. OR you may speak with one of our dedicated reps to get the best and most accurate information.

Do you incorporate sustainable or eco-friendly practices?

Absolutely! We are committed to sustainability and can integrate various eco-friendly practices into our collection process. WE LOVE BEES! We'll safely remove them so neither your family or their family is harmed. We then take the bees to a new home to continue doing what they do best- MAKE HONEY!

Are your services available for both residential and commercial properties?

Yes, we provide comprehensive honey bee and wasp removal services for both residential and commercial clients. Each project is tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of the property, ensuring optimal results regardless of the property type.

What kind of maintenance is required after the project is completed?

Our maintenance is called "Exclusion Work", and we can help you understand what that entails. UNFORTUNATELY it's just the luck of the draw sometimes as to why they show up on your property to "setup shop". Basic home maintenance of properly sealing your home is a great place to start.

Do I have to be home while the work is being performed?

To begin the work certainly, you must be there to allow us access to the home. We must assess the scope of the work, which does end up inside the home a lot of the times. If work on the interior IS required, then for liability reasons we'd ask that someone over the age of 18 be home the entire time.
